The University of Massachusetts Amherst University Without Walls has asked Angel Catalyst founder Paul G. Silva to offer the course: UWW 397E “Funding Sustainable Enterprises” Summer Session (6/8 – 7/20).  This course is deliberately being run completely online and does not require live or synchronous participation - allowing students from around the world and with difficult schedules to participate fully.

Information on the course:

Instructor:  Paul Silva, manager of the River Valley Investors angel group, serial entrepreneur, and co-director of the UMass Amherst Entrepreneurship Initiative

Course Description: In this 3-credit course, students are introduced to the many different "flavors" of capital available to early stage ventures.  Ventures require capital from different flavors depending on their age, growth trajectory, and mission.  Each flavor's strengths and weaknesses is described to help entrepreneurs identify the right flavor for their venture to approach and when.  Students are next shown how to build the key relationships needed to help them secure the desired flavor of capital.
